The inspiration for their ship design harkens back to Earth military weaponry from the height of the 21st Century, emphasizing angularity and edged with very dramatic hard lines. These elements create an intensely assertive-looking weapon, similar to the classic F-117 aircraft and many other US military vehicles from the time. Jupiter Arms ships are often very symmetrical with a bulky frame to emphasize the harsh and authoritative stance of the manufacturer’s values. The design is forceful and dominant, striking fear into the enemy. The pilot house holds the captain bridge and essential navigation personnel. The design for Jupiter Arms pilot house is always positioned on the center of the lateral axis to enhance the control and power exerted over the battlefield. From this vantage point, captains get the clear view necessary to make split-second decisions in combat. Larger ships will generally have two pilot houses, allowing for even more situational awareness. The windows on the pilot house emit a warm yellow glow when in a darkened environment which creates the feeling of an industrial plant back on Earth. Jupiter Arms windows are somewhat mirror-like and onlookers can make out small details behind the glass, giving the appearance of a control room. These pilot windows are separated by angular guards that have a hard, beveled form to further emphasize the superiority of Jupiter Arms space crafts. To stay in line with this superiority of craftsmanship, the weapons maintain the same general form and materials as the rest of the ship while still looking and feeling like a classic ballistic weapon. A great example is the Scattergun Broadside, one of the most formidable weapons Jupiter Arms developed. The Scatterguns are located symmetrically on either side of the ship and fires a short-range volley at a targeted enemy. Jupiter Arms ships tend to lean towards aggressive tactics in battle. Their forward-built weaponry is designed to assist with their brutal strategies of war, focusing on dishing out damage rather than withstanding it. Even the supporting Tactical Cruiser line of vessels are dangerous. Lacking the nano-repair technology acquired by the other manufacturers, they tend to prioritize damage and offensive maneuvers over supporting other ships defensively. Jupiter Arms takes each weapon on their armada and innovates it to ensure they are adaptive on the battlefield, hitting harder than any who dare stand against these fierce warriors. In manufacturing, most Jupiter Arms ships have large panels of metal that are broken into smaller sections with panel lines. Long panel lines are interrupted with “sawtooth” triangular patterns similar to the faceted panels on stealth crafts. The triangular shape of the panels are usually 45 degree and 90 degree angles, standard construction angles that allowed for quick fabrication during the Great Solar War. Unlike other manufacturers, Jupiter Arms openly display their intakes, hatches, punch-ins, vent slits, windows, and sensor arrays - a very “common sense” approach that prefers function to form. The exposed interior is more densely detailed than the outer shell, contains pipes, conductive metal components, windows, vent slits, crew hatches, and support struts, and give the crew inside a more industrial yet human feel. Jupiter Arms engines open when activated - the outer flaps blossom outward, like a flower, and the inner ring is thrust further into its housing. The engines are mechanical and circular in form, glowing blue. When active, engines fire a plume of blue flame. The blue color represents solidarity, trust and respect, something the manufacturer strives for in their company mission. When it comes to Corvettes, the manufacturer focuses more on maneuverability and stealth. These ships are not designed to sustain heavy damage, wanting their ships to function more for adaptability when combating the Transhumans. The CEO felt that reverse-engineering transhuman technology was unnecessary and a better technique to destroy them was to be prepared for change. The sleek Corvette design reflects this bold confidence for the future. Jupiter Arms caters their designs to any nation’s needs but heavily leans towards Troja’s aesthetics and principles. These Trojans are similarly fearless, self-reliant, and often blunty aggressive in battle. They aspire to the classical warrior ideals and believe in winning at nearly any cost, caring nothing for any factors that are irrelevant in battle. Troja’s military adherence to ranks and regulations is at the core of its animosity for the Scum Belt’s outlaws, who are led by Bix Duquette, formerly hailed as the nation’s greatest hero.Jupiter Arms offers everything needed to secure victory: human ingenuity, strength, and determination.. July Community Update: State of the Game: July. 'Command The Colossal' Patch Notes: Enjoy a brand new hangar and front end UI, new audio and SFX, and tons of balance improvements! This update will be available when Dreadnought launches on Steam!FEATURES. Akula Vektor: Outguns And Outlasts: Brutish, primal, and unsophisticated - but far from weak. These are the ships of Akula Vektor.Welcome Comra...uh...Captains!Pundits have decried the ships of Akula Vektor as brutish, primal, and unsophisticated - but never weak. As their hulking appearance suggests, their key characteristic is durability, a priority that can be traced back long before the Great Solar War. At the time, Akula Vektor was still two separate Earth-based companies, defense manufacturer Akula and civil contractor Vektor, whose collaboration helped to save the human race from extinction. History has proven that endurance is the key to overcoming disaster, according to Akula Vektor. Thus, to this day, its ships are designed to withstand extraordinary amounts of damage. Its long term goal is to create an indestructible battleship. They are strict realists and their culture is serious, hard-boiled and no-nonsense. Akula Vektor ship launches are disciplined, joyless affairs where the ship is unceremoniously launched into space and the workers celebrate without getting sentimental – they get blind drunk on straight vodka and once they regain consciousness, quickly get back to work.Akula ships are bulky and rounded. Their armor is manufactured in big chunks, connected without the use of any visible rivets or bolts. The composite armor material is usually in good condition as Akula uses “Nano Armor Technology” taking care of constant repairs. Their thrusters burn with intense red, reminiscent of a forge.Hull Design. PC Game Update 1.12.1 Patch Notes: 1.12.1 introduces bug fixes and balances changes based on community feedback! Dev Blog: 'Command The Colossal' Combat Balance: Greetings! I’m Matt Witter, a senior designer at Six Foot. I wanted to introduce myself, share a few upcoming balance changes and give everyone a bit of insight into how we approach combat balance within Dreadnought.Combat balancing is best accomplished by making data-driven decisions, then implementing those decisions in a clean, methodical way. You don’t want to approach it haphazardly—like a bull in a fine china shop. This can create an unbalanced system with long-lasting negative effects on a game’s balance, economy and progression. For Dreadnought’s combat, our goal is to have a system that offers counterplay (where one strategy can effectively counter another) and makes sure that no one strategy becomes the “winning” strategy. This can be a fine line to walk as we strive to offer a range of ship loadout options and minimize the chance that you’ll make a bad loadout choice.Any change to the combat system takes a variety of data and factors into account. For example, take officer briefings. Issues are generally discovered via our QA team, in our internal playtests or by our amazing community. We start by collecting data on the officer briefing to identify problems. Is it too strong? Too weak? Does it encourage a negative playstyle? Some data points that we collect about an officer briefing might include how many players use it, what modules it’s used with, and the average win rate and score of players who use it (to name a few). From there, we can begin to determine if the officer briefing is balanced—or if it needs more work. Now for a more specific example: the “heal ball.” We dubbed this strategy after noticing that it was possible to use a combination of modules and officer briefings to create endless health and energy regen. After diving into our data, we discovered that a core piece of this problem stemmed from an officer briefing called Adrenaline Shot. In combination with other healing modules, Adrenaline Shot could make tactical cruisers extremely hard to defeat. To stay competitive, a player on the receiving end of an opponent’s heal ball had no choice but to create their own. Our goal in this situation was not to prevent the heal ball strategy, but to reduce its effectiveness—and ensure that other strategies could adequately counter it.This brings me to some of the changes that you’ll see very soon. After looking at Adrenaline Shot, we sat down and discussed other officer briefings, how balanced they were as well as the roles we wanted them to play. The first thing we found was that some officer briefings had values that varied across ships. One example is Desperate Measures. We noticed that some ships activated this officer briefing at 50% remaining health, while others saw it activate all the way down at 12%. With the Command the Colossal update, this officer briefing will fire at 25% for all ships. We look forward to bringing similar changes to Survival Instinct, Get My Good Side and Nerves of Steel. We also found a few officer briefings that did not create the intended gameplay experience. Tip the Scales is a prime example. Our data indicated that players rarely used this briefing, which we realized didn’t complement any ship loadout in a meaningful way—so we’ve added Last Resort in its place. Last Resort will activate when your ship reaches 0 energy. While active, you’ll receive a 15% reduced reload time and a 10% boost to your rate of fire. However, these bonuses go away once you gain 1 point of energy. Overall, we think this change will encourage a more tactical playstyle, and in combination with other briefings and modules, it will present an interesting option when building your ship loadouts. As you might expect, we’re very excited as we progress toward Steam. We have a lot in the works for Dreadnought that we’ll discuss down the road, like better defining the roles of individual ships by adjusting their movement and weapon properties. Several of the weapon ranges have been adjusted with the Command the Colossal update. This is a small design step in our larger plan that will be rolling out across several updates. Our goal is to *further* define roles and play styles *offered by your ship selection* As you increase in tier these play styles and roles will be more critical to your success on the battlefield. There are plenty of balance changes coming to the game with our launch on Steam, and we hope that you’re as excited as we are. Our team is always listening, and we cannot wait to get your feedback once the game is live. Until next time!. Developer FAQ with Matt Tobiason (12/14/18): Lead Game Designer Matt Tobiason answers some of the most common questions about Dreadnought’s recent game update and plans for what’s coming up next!Q: There were a lot of changes made to energy in the recent patch. Why is that, and what are you hoping changes in the meta?. 11/6/18 'Command The Colossal' Hotfix Notes: Game servers will be brought offline for a one-hour maintenance starting at 4:00 PM CST while this update is pushed live.Players will now get an error message if the Steam Overlay is unable to load due to it being set to disabled or being blocked by video capture software.Improved tracking so that logs sent by players to Customer Support will have more detail to assists in debugging the problem.Module descriptions will no longer be compressed to the point where some detail was hard to read.GP or Credits detail should be easier to read in the descriptions of market bundles.Fixed an issue where too many sounds at the same time were causing distortion.// This is a temporary solution while we clean up some lingering issues. You may occasionally hear no sound when firing or using a module during a full scale battle.Fixed an issue where an item that was part of a bundle might default to the bundle as a purchase option in the market. The Welcome Bundle display showed 10,000 credits as part of the bundle when you would get 20,000 credits. The UI has been updated to show the correct 20,000 credits. Removed patch note regarding rewards in Proving Grounds, this fix should arrive in a future release soon.. 'Legends Redefined' 1/24 Hotfix Notes: BUG FIXESWe have lowered the Battle Bonus recharge cost for Legendary fleets to 11000 credits from 12500 credits. We will continue to monitor matchmaking and reward income across all fleet ranks to determine if additional adjustments are warranted.Reduced Rupture Ram damage from 25,000 to 15,000 at T4 and 35,000 to 20,000 at T5. Made the applied buff on ability activation behave the same as the other rams.Resolved an error where Tartarus Missile was applying Rupture effect. Tartarus Missile now applies: stasis, module disruption, and energy drain debuffs as expected, all gameplay and tooltip information is also displayed correctly.Queuing for 'Any' no longer removes the Quickplay menu option.Resolved an issue where loadout details would not be visible when mousing over ship selection in Orbit or Respawn screensSelecting Customer Support from the Bug Report page now loads the correct contact us webpage** The team is still investigating the power of Corvette's Armor Amp and gameplay inconsistencies based on player feedback and will be making further updates to address these areas. We believe it best to release what we are able to in a timely fashion and continue to make further improvements as they are available, and will have more info on our next patch for these issues soon. Thank you everyone for your continued feedback, passion, and support!
